My Best Travel Tips In One Post

If you’re reading this, chances are you want to begin to travel, travel more this year, or find ways to travel to new destinations. Over the past two years, I’ve written a number of blog posts laden with travel tips, itineraries, stories, destination ideas, and so much more. So today I’m making it easier for you by summarizing the posts with my best travel tips so far whether you’re a newbie traveller or a seasoned traveller.

A Visual Plan

Some write down travel goals, others make a travel vision board. I have a private travel vision board this year on Pinterest and it’s taking shape. I like it because I can access it anytime (not just when I’m home). In 2017 and 2018, I shared my travel goals here and here. My 2019 goals aren’t fully set so I’ll share in a newsletter by March. To start, have a plan even if it’s a dream list.

How You Can Travel This Year

I wrote this in April 2018 but its still 100% applicable. From saving, to requesting time off, check the full blog post here.

What To Look For In A Travel Buddy: When you decide to travel with people, you want to make sure you’re ‘vibing’ with your travel buddies. There are people you get along with but can’t travel with. In this post, I share tips on what to look out for in finding (or being) a good travel buddy.

Tips on Where to Stay

Deciding on Accommodation: Airbnb, Hostel, or Hotels: Trying to understand the difference between these options? Check this two-part series for a comparison of all three options. I also wrote a detailed post on how to find the best Airbnb.

Tips on What to Do On Your Trip: Use My Itineraries

I’ve shared what I’ve done in many cities and countries around the world. What’s better? In most of these posts I also share what I would have done if I had a little more time or money (or both TBH). Feel free to modify these itineraries to suit you, here are a few for starters.

Thailand, New Zealand, Kenya, Bermuda, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Rwanda, Mauritius, Philippines, India, Maldives, Switzerland, UK, Bruges, Iceland, Zimbabwe, Hungary.

Where do you want to go in 2019? I hope you find these tips helpful. If you’ve got questions, please ask in the comments section below and I’ll do my best to respond. Here’s to more amazing journeys in 2019 and beyond!

PS. My post on How I Afford to Travel from two years ago is one of the most popular blog posts ever, so I know money is important. I will do a post (or series on travel and money) during the first half of the year.
