Aoyama Flower Market Tea House Tokyo: Complete Guide
Aoyama Flower Market Tea House is one of Tokyo’s most stunning cafes, combining fresh flowers with seasonal French toast in a stunning greenhouse setting. Imagine walking into a tea house where freshly blooming flowers and lush greenery meet tea in Tokyo. This is Aoyama flower market tea house.
I stumbled upon the greenhouse cafe when I stopped to buy myself flowers at a nearby flower shop in my second month living in Tokyo. Since then, Iโve not only dined at two locations in Tokyo multiple times, Iโve shopped at both the flower and vase shop, and Iโve also taken a few visiting guests to the cafe. This tea house is not only popular with tourists, it is also a popular spot for locals as well.
In this post. Iโll share my experience at the cafe, the menu, location, ambiance and maybe an insider tip or two to help you plan your visit.

About Aoyama Flower Market Tea House
Aoyama Flower Market is a household name in Tokyo. It was born in Tokyo’s Aoyama neighborhood in 1989 with the concept of living with flowers every day. There are now around 100 stores in Japan and locations in London and Paris!
The tea houses, out of the same brand, came a little later with the flagship location being in the Aoyama/Omotesando neighbourhood. There are three locations in Tokyo and Iโve dined at the flagship location many times as well as at Akasaka location once.
The teahouse combines flowers, tea, and seasonal beauty. The teahouses are cafes attached to the flower shop.

Aoyama Flower Market Tea House Locations Around Tokyo
There are 3 tea houses around Tokyo. Two central locations, and one that’s just outside the city.
Aoyama (Omotesando)
This is the flagship location for the teahouses, the original concept and my favourite. This Tea house cafe is styled like a greenhouse filled with plants, flowers, and a lot of natural light. It looks and feels like a greenhouse and that’s the whole point.
This location is centrally located and is the perfect atmosphere for an elegant break. Aoyama is known for fashionable boutiques, trendy cafes, and upscale vibes so it fits. This location is perfect for Tokyo city luxe meets urban garden in Tokyo vibes.
In addition to the greenhouse cafe, this location also has a workshop location for flowers, a flower shop, and a gallery/shop upstairs for vases and other flower-related ware.
Fair Warning: The teahouse can get crowded, and you can end up in a long queue, especially on weekends.
Address: 5-4-41 Minamiaoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo 107-0062
Nearest station: Omotesando (near Shibuya). It is a five minute walk from Omotesando Station (Exit A4)
Lines: Hanzomon, Ginza, Chiyoda
Akasaka
This location is great for the business district crowds, for after-work hang out and not as busy as Aoyama. This branch has later opening hours (until 23:00), so itโs great for dinner, drinks, or just a relaxed floral-themed afternoon or night out. I stumbled upon this location while exploring the Akasaka neighborhood during a holiday weekend. While the location is smaller than the Aoyama/Omotesando flagship cafe, it’s a lovely space to enjoy tea, conversation, and to be amongst greenery and flowers.

The set up of this tea house is similar to the flagship, however it is smaller. There is also a flower shop adjacent to the tea house, but it does not have the flower vase gallery

Kichijoji
From all indications, this location has the most local and relaxed vibe of all three cafes. It is the only location I have not yet visited. The set up cozier, and there are fewer tourists. Combine a visit to this location with a visit to Inokashika park, Harmonica alley, and Ghibli museum.

My Most Recent Experience at Aoyama Flower Market Teahouse Flagship
I arrived at 12:35 pm on a Monday, a public holiday in November, and there were no lines outside and only four people waiting inside! Go on weekdays yโall. I was seated within five minutes of my arrival. On the contrary, I waited in line for about half an hour during my first visit two years ago.

I walk into the greenhouse and it is verdant, as always! Ivy, hanging plants, and hanging lights. It never feels overdone, just perfect! There are roses everywhere this time(tis the season for roses), thereโs literally two roses growing out of a flower box at each table. Iโm always in awe of the creativity and intentionality behind the creation of this space. The cool thing about it is that there are seasonal floral themes, so no two visits are the same. I canโt keep a plant alive to save my life but here, I get to literally live with flowers for 90 minutes. For December, thereโs a Christmas themed french toast meal. I HAVE to find some time to try it out!

The tables around me quickly fill up as I look at the menu. I ordered the seasonal French toast (I always do), and the flower parfait – these are the stars of the show, in my opinion. I also order sweet Earl Grey tea. Then, I added on an elderflower cocktail for good measure. Why not? I placed my order via a QR code link and there is free WiFi at the restaurant.

My french toast is beautiful, and tasty, and the flowers are edible. Since it is not a heavy meal, I also enjoy my flower parfait which is made of fragrant rose jelly, ice cream, crunchy cereal, and cherry mouse. The textures and flavours are surprisingly perfectly complementary. The meal pairs perfectly with rose tea, mocktail, or cocktails.ย
While I enjoy my meal, I take a peak at the flower studio (not to be confused with the flower shop or vase studio) just beside the cafe and I see the staff preparing for a workshop. At this location, and others, all sorts of flower arrangement workshops and events are on offer. Unfortunately, they are all in Japanese so I cannot participate.ย

Menu Selection At Aoyama Flower Market Tea House
Aoyama Flower Market tea house menu offers both sweet and savoury menu options. For savoury items, thereโs an omelet rice dish, and a quiche plate. Thereโs also French toast with bacon and grilled veggies or a side salad.

On the sweet side, there is the signature flower-crown French toast, adorned with organic herbs and edible flowers. This is what I always get! However, plain French toast is also on offer. For less than an additional $5 USD, you can make the meal a set, adding French tea or grapefruit juice.ย

The drink menu includes signature teas, mocktails, juices, and cocktails.ย
- Rose soda, grapefruit juice, home made ginger ale, hot ginger,
- French tea – a range of blends are on offer to cater to every palate
- An original herb tea blend
- Original cocktails/mocktails include: elderflower sour, fresh mint mojito, and a Berry Mint fizz
- Beer and wine

What To Know Before Your Aoyama Flower Market Greenhouse Teahouse Visit
- Thereโs a 90-minute time limit, and I considered that to be plenty of time
- Photos are allowed, just be careful of other patrons
- Every patron is required to place an order but it doesnโt have to be a full meal
- The use of laptops is not allowed as it takes away from the intended ambiance

- Without a doubt, the flagship location is the most beautiful! Plus the flower vase shop has some of the most unique vases and floral accessories I have ever seen!

How Does Aoyama Flower Market Fit Into Broader Tokyo Travel?
The first two locations can easily be woven into your Tokyo travel.
Flagship Location – great addition to your stops when youโre shopping in Omotesando, Harajuku, and Shibuya part of town. You can either start
Akasaka Location – Harry Potter lovers can add this stop to their itinerary. The Biz tower and tea house is across the street from a Harry Potter themed plaza with a Harry Potter cafe, a shop, and magical staircare.
My Final Thoughts On Aoyama Flower Market Tea House Tokyo
