15 Things To Do On Your Next UK Visit
Perhaps you visit the UK quite often and you’ve done all the main touristy things in London. I’m talking about London Eye, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Shard, Tate, Buckingham Palace, Sky Garden, the O2, Oxford Street, Tower Bridge, and Stonehenge. Or, it’s your first time in the United Kingdom (UK) but you’re on the look out for alternative things to do/places to go. No visas needed with your UK visa. Here are a few ideas:
Within England:
- Take a day trip to Cambridge, Bath, Oxford, or York
- Have afternoon tea in London; there are many salons to choose from. I went to this one
- Have drinks at Madison near St. Paul’s Cathedral – great views
- Spend a weekend in England’s largest national park – Lake District –
- Take in an English Premier League game
- Climb the O2!
Visit Scotland:
- Visit Charming Edinburgh (a post on a weekend here to come later)
- Take a weekend trip to the famous Scottish Highlands, Isle of Skye has stunning landscapes and scenery but do not forget to check out Loch Ness, Loch Lomond, Glencoe, and Oban
- Go whisky tasting anywhere in Scotland, try a meal of Haggis, Neeps and Tatties
- Go to a Ceildhl and dance the night away, yes there will be men in kilts
- Visit St. Andrews – the birthplace of golf and if you plan well, play a round on the historic course!
Visit Belfast/Northern Ireland
- Tour Belfast and definitely do the black cab tour. I promise this will be a thought provoking tour
- Titanic land, need I say more, the ship was built here!
- Stay in a bed & breakfast, rent a car and drive the giants causeway for stunning scenery
- Game of Thrones fans can visit GOT filming locations, including the dark hedges
If you’ve spent some time in the United Kingdom (UK), Scotland, or Wales what else would you add to this list? Please share in the comments section below. I haven’t been to the Lake District so it is very much on my list for a future visit. See here to read my post on what to expect if you’re moving to the UK. In case you missed it, I announced via my newsletter and on Instagram that after 2.5 years of living in Scotland, I’ve moved back to the States.
Before I get back into the swing of things, I’m currently on a month long trip … a trip of a lifetime of sorts. I’ve spent 12 days in New Zealand and I’m currently in the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu. Follow my journey on Instagram @wellwornheels.

So I’ve done most of your recommendations for England yay! Def keeping this in mind for Scotland / Northern Ireland. Never heard of Titanic Land. For England, also worth checking out the beaches and Cornwall. It’s quite lovely!
Thanks for this Dee!

Wow, very nicely done. Ok its not technically called Titanic Land, I made that up, but its the most popular attraction in Belfast. You actually get to learn about the company, its owners, how the ship was built, what went wrong etc. Quite sad but educative. Thanks for the tips on Cornwall, that was on my list too but…o well!
