This Time Last Year: Discovering Iceland
Time flies when you’re having fun! This weekend last year 12 of us from 8 different countries (united by a desire for adventure) hopped on a flight to Iceland for a three-day weekend. Since I’ve slacked off for 365 days, what better time to share images from our trip than the 1-year anniversary?
In our three days, we saw geysers, water falls, hot springs, and the Northern lights (also known as Aurora Borealis). I dabbed at the spot separating North America and Europe, while my more adventurous friends snorkeled between the plates (brrr!!). The best way to get around Iceland is to self-drive, this is what we did!
One tip I’ll share for now though: Iceland is expensive, take your snacks!! We bought some food at the grocery store for some meals but still… not cheap! I’ll do a separate post on logistics, traveling in large groups and such, but for now, let me show you a little bit of Iceland!

Have you been to Iceland or is it on your bucket list? What was your favorite part, or what do you look forward to the most? I have some fun video footage that I should make into something, 2018 goal, maybe?
Have a great week ahead!
Dee!
Lol, curious to know what makes the blue lagoon smell or what it smells of… Iceland is definitely on the list of places I’d like to visit. Looking forward to relaxing in hot springs and chasing the northern lights.
It’s the Sulphur! The smell is actually worse outside than inside. It ended up being fine I just didn’t expect it, no one warned me! Yes, can’t wait for you to go as well, of course I want to go back. Greed is catching me!
This post is giving me major wanderlust vibes already!! I really want to visit Iceland at some point and can’t wait to read your next posts!
oh Loriade, but you are going to go further even than I have, its just a matter of time (I can already tell!!) Thanks for stopping by and yes, sharing more about Iceland is on my long list of future posts!!!
What were the 8 countries y’all are from? (Just curious). Never been to Iceland but not sure about snorkeling in cold water.
Nigeria (but of course), Russia, Zimbabwe, USA, Botswana, South Africa, Albania, and Italy!!! Yeah I was not about to snorkel in cold water plus we know how weak my swimming is!
I love the imagery from this post. Iceland is on my list of places to go. Do share logistic for lazy travellers like me to munch off.
Thanks AdeOla! Of course I;ll share 🙂
I can’t believe I’ve lived in Northern Europe all of this time and haven’t hopped over to the Scandinavian countries yet. Yes, I feel my own shame as I type that – typical Nigerian, just hustling away at my 9-5.
This looks amazing. And cold…. but amazing.
All work and no play… I hear you though, its takes a little extra effort because our careers are demanding as well. I was just almost regretting trip I have coming up next weekend (to a Scandinavian country too!!) because I have a lot of work. Then I told myself to handle things during the week and now I’m excited again :). Hope its cold but AMAZING! Thank you
